Soil chemistry introduction
Soil chemistry deals with the chemical composition, chemical properties, and chemical reactions of soils. 45% of the arable soil colloid is composed of inorganic particles consisting of primary and secondary minerals, phyllosilicates, and metal oxides.
To lower soil pH (Soil Acidulation)...
Calcium moves 1 inch in the soil per year, so when liming it is important to consider the lime application index.
Acidulation of the soil with sulfur produces hydrogen ions which displace base cations on the exchange sites. Granular sulfur, ferrous sulfate, or sulfuric acid (rapid results attained here yet one needs special equipment to apply) can be used.
